Q Phonological processes are the rule-based patterns that all children use to make adult speech easier. Watch the video entitled “Phonological Processes!" in the Readings and Resources, which provides an explanation and examples of some of the most common phonological processes. Then watch the three videos of children displaying some of these same processes. Describe the speech patterns of these children using your new knowledge of phonological processes and consonant acquisition. From what you know about typical speech development, do you believe any of these children should be referred for evaluation? Why or why not? Are there are considerations other than speech patterns that would warrant your referral?
