As a professional social worker, I would first raise awareness of the LGBT community's daily hardships and poor health outcomes. As a social worker, I would suggest an intervention group or an organization are to be culturally competent as well as possess cultural humility that would help them to provide nondiscrimination protections to the LGBT community based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The emphasis should be on closing the gap between the LGBT community's mental and physical well-being and that of heterosexual counterparts.
