In 1900 BCE, Amorites settled the Babylon city. Under the reign of Hammurabi, Babylon yielded to be the enormous power in Mesopotamia. Due to the expansion of the large scale empire, Hammurabi and Amorites faced many challenges. Before that there was Akkadian Empire but due to the localization of the political power Akkadian Empire had lost its trace. Consequently Hammurabi tried hard to fence their social, historical, cultural links to the Sumerians. On the other hand, Babylonians emphasized their existence on their own terms.
