A2.03.1 Module 2 Assignment 3
Q In your first paragraph, paraphrase the poem. (Put it in your own words).
In the second paragraph, explain what is important about the orange lines, and choose one additional line to discuss.
This poem is the conversation between the father and the son for the last time. The father from his deathbed, who died of over alcohol consumption, has seen some kind of light. Being an atheist, the father considered the light as a signal from the god himself telling him that his end is here. By showing the light, God is guiding him towards the tomb. The son was constantly consoling him that he was viewing the beginning only but the father was pretty sure that it is the end of his life. Father was urging his son to turn off the light at the beginning of the poem. As the son was consoling that he is just remembering his birth, at the end of the poem father compared the mother’s womb with that light. It means that in case he is seeing his birth, he would prefer the womb to never open up.
