Q 3.14 Project #3 Group Presentation For the group presentation #3, you will be looking at crossing borders and negotiating difference using examples from popular culture. This is referred to as cultural fusion or cultural hybridity, which refers to the way that different cultures interact and create new culture. Topics include food, dance, music, art, literature, architecture, tattoos and piercing, Youtube/internet, film and television, fashion or sports. For your presentation, each student will want to have a central argument about how your topic illustrates cultural fusion, and provide examples from your research to support your argument. There are several formats you can use. You can create a google document with your group members, a Powerpoint slide show, which each member contributing slides, or you can compile videos from the various members of your group. To join a group, click on the "people" tab on the navigation bar on the left, then click on Project #3 groups, then next to the name of the group, click the join link. See these instructions (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. for further information. Here are the steps you need to take: 1. Join a group by selecting a topic you are interested in. To do this, go to the People tab on the navigation bar, select the Project #3 tab at the top, then select the group you want to join, and select "join." 2. Communicate with your canvas group by clicking on the group topic that you have joined. Discuss potential sub topics. 3. Next, find an article or book about how your topic illustrates cultural fusion and hybridity using the LACC library databases.Links to an external site. For example, if you are in the music group, you could research how rock music is influenced by different cultures, like the blues and country music. Or if you are in the sports group, you might want to look at how the NBA is influenced by the recruitment of players from other cultures than the United States. Break your topic down into separate examples, with each group member focusing on one example. 4. Share your research with your group. 5. Select one person to compile the research into a google document, Powerpoint presentation, or video. 6. Make sure that each group member's contribution to the presentation is clearly labeled with the person's name, since the project is evaluated on an individual basis. 7. Submit the presentation by the deadline. Make sure to have the names of the participants on the presentation. 8.
