In the year 1851, Sojourner Truth, an African American abolitionist and former slave delivered an inspirational and noteworthy speech that fortified the suffrage and fundamental rights of black women. Her transcript that was later named as “Ain’t I a woman?” and the speech was delivered at the Women’s Convention in Akron, Ohio. This speech shed light on two grave issues, which are the abolitionist movement in Southern part of USA and the increasing unrest of women in Northern America (Truth, 1851).
