E team Current Event Discussion Board

Q Week 5 the "E" team posts their current event summary, mind map and link to their article to this discussion board. Week 6 everyone (even if you are on the "E" team) reads and replies to at least 3 posts on this discussion board. 1. Based on the responses that I have read from the class in previous discussions, most of us agree that ransom should not be paid. With that said, how do you think the American people would handle an extended period of high prices and shortages of the meat supply?

Q 2. Seeing as the FBI has recovered some of the money paid, does that change your opinion?3. Seeing that JBS controls one quarter of the meat supply, should we be concerned about monopolies and the impact from these attacks?

When a company or corporation is struck by a ransomware attack, the likelihood of both prices increasing and supply decreasing are pretty high regardless of whether the ransom was paid or not. The loss of money, whether through revenue loss or pay-out, occurs in both scenarios, so the impacts on the American people will remain relatively the same. To answer the question, the American people would not handle an extended period of high prices and shortages of the meat supply well. Ransomware is truly devastating to the victim company or corporation, and the American people are simply unsympathetic to situations such as these overall.
